Standard louvers are thin, uninsulated, and often sit partly open from wind or lint — so outside air pours straight into the metal duct and drives the temperature up and down. In winter that moisture freezes at the opening, then thaws and refreezes, making the leak worse over time.
Temperatures were logged 16 inches inside the duct — behind a standard vent cover and behind a Thermo-Trap — for nine months, over 2,000 readings.

We bring the unit, the mounting plate or block, the sealant, the fasteners, and the finishing materials for your vent type. Replacement parts come through us too.

Can I buy a Thermo-Trap and install it myself?
No. Thermo-Trap is not available in stores — installation must be done by a certified Thermo-Trap distributor and installer in your area. That's what makes the install truly airtight. Purple Property Services is the certified installer for Ottawa and Gatineau, and replacement parts are always available through us.
Which vents can it be installed on?
Dryer exhausts, kitchen range hoods, bathroom fans, central vacuum outlets, and air exchanger (HRV) intakes and exhausts. It's compatible with standard duct sizes, and the reversible model is designed specifically for air intakes.
Will it restrict airflow or strain my dryer?
No. The louvers swing fully open under airflow, so your dryer or fan works no harder than it does now. Because the sealed trap keeps the duct drier and cleaner, dryer run times can drop noticeably. We have seen up to 50% coming off a moderately clogged vent, though that is an average estimate from the worst cases, not what every install will give you.
