This porch-ceiling vent was an open hole with a taped foil duct sagging out of the soffit, leaking heat and inviting nesting birds. We fitted a louvered Thermo-Trap on a sealed mounting plate, flush to the soffit panel.

This is a fresh-air intake — the kind that feeds an air exchanger or gas heating appliance — and an opening that drafts constantly once the cover wears out. The replacement sits on a proper mounting block, fully caulked, with a trap built for intake airflow.

This oven hood exhaust had clogged up completely — the cover was caked shut with grease and dust, and the caulking around the frame had let go. We swapped it for a sealed louvered unit that opens under airflow and closes tight when the hood is off.

The old hood on this dark soffit was grimy, lint-packed, and uninsulated — the kind of vent that drafts in winter and freezes itself shut. We replaced it with our insulated soffit box, colour-matched in black so it disappears into the soffit.

Expanding foam fills the cavity edge to edge around the duct. This is the step that actually stops the draft, and it happens before the cover goes anywhere near the wall.
The finished Thermo-Trap, caulked all the way around. Louvers open when the system pulls air and drop shut when it stops.
Covers get matched to the wall they sit on. Three finished jobs: white on grey siding, white on cream, and brown on red brick.

Both vents on this elevation were replaced in the same visit. Same product, same colour, so the wall reads as one job instead of two patches.
Brown disappears into brick from any real distance. Up close you can read the Thermo-Trap name pressed into the housing, which is about the only way to spot it.
Vent sealing starts with cleaning and prep — a trap installed over a lint-packed duct is a fire risk, not a fix.
A rotary brush pulls years of packed lint out of the line first. Every dryer vent we trap gets cleaned, because sealing a clogged duct just locks the problem in.
High wall vents are part of the same visit. Our installer handles the ladder work, so upper-floor bathroom fans and dryer runs get the same treatment as ground-level vents.
What you never see from the ground: every soffit box is packed with closed-cell foam around the duct collar before it goes up, so the vent stays above freezing all winter.
